Was thinking maybe a 24" nec via the hdmi using the port in the mbp. I haven't used a second external display, yet. Right now I'm going to use my good ol' nec 2690 via an adapter. That is NOT a configuration that Apple says is supported.īut in any case, it doesn't look as if you lose any monitor support relative to what the rMBP gives you on its own. The one thing that's a bit off is that they seem to be claiming that you can connect one display to the HDMI port, and another (Thunderbolt) display to the Thunderbolt daisy-chain port – and that this configuration will work. I am guessing what that means is that the HDMI port is connected to the internal equivalent of a MiniDisplayPort-to-HDMI adapter – not to an outboard graphic card – so therefore the Apple rule that says there may only be one MiniDisplayPort device per Thunderbolt chain applies. They say that "Dual monitor support requires the use of at least one Thunderbolt display." The only issue I have with the dock is it seems to have some limitations regarding dual displays.
